
| The Company KL StarRail Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), was appointed to manage the KL Monorail system from 19 December 2007.
Prasarana is a wholly-owned Government company under the Ministry of Finance Inc. which was set up to own the assets of selected public transport companies. This is part of the Government’s initiative to restructure the urban public transport system in the Klang Valley. Prasarana, which already owns the assets of two light transit lines namely the Kelana Jaya line and Ampang line and also the RapidKL buses, is the new concession holder of the KL Monorail System when it took over the assets and operations on 19 December 2007.
The Concession
A concession agreement between the Government of Malaysia and Prasarana grants the latter, the rights to undertake the development, construction, management, operation and maintenance of the KL Monorail System.
