Q : Is the KL Monorail safe?
A : Yes, to our knowledge there has never been a passenger fatality in the history of the monorail technology that we have adopted. The design and nature of the monorail system makes it very difficult for trespassers to access the guideway and power rails. The KL Monorail operation is semi-automatic with full fail-safe train protection. Its vehicles are also designed to be highly resistant to fire, toxic fumes and gases.

Q : What happens if there is a power failure?
A : Back-up power will be available which will independently enable trains to reach the next station.

Q :

It was mentioned that the trains/vehicles to be used are Made-in-Malaysia. Is this true?
A : Yes, these trains were manufactured at a factory in Rawang.

Q : What is the passenger capacity of the trains?
A : This depends on the number of cars per train. The current KL Monorail system utilises a 2-car train which carries a maximum 214 (full load) and 268 (crush load) passengers at any one time.

Q : Are the trains be driven manually?
A : Yes. All trains are operated by a driver, positioned at the head of the train for passenger comfort and assurance. Nevertheless, the operation of these trains are monitored at each individual station and a Control Centre equipped with full fail-safe train technology system.

Q : Are there any environmental impact from the monorail system?
A : The monorail system is considered more environmentally friendly than other railway systems due to its low visual impact, narrow guideway structure, stations with a light and pleasing appearance and rubber-tyred vehicles with low noise and vibration levels.

Q : What is the noise level of a typical monorail system?
A : Straddle type monorail systems are inherently quiet generally operating within 75dB.

Q : What about facilities for the disabled?
A : Provisions have already been made for the visually & hearing impaired passengers. Further provision of facilities for the wheel chair disabled, such as lifts and escalators has been planned.

Q : Are there park-and-ride spaces available at the stations?
A : There are parking spaces available at KL Sentral, Tun Sambanthan & Maharajalela Stations. Alternatively, you can also park at Kelana Jaya or Ampang Line's designated parking spaces.
